I don't know why we don't just add Real-time traffic light scheduling, improved transport scheduling, smart transport systems solutions to deal with extreme weather conditions… The little cool innovations are what can seriously help us …. NOT THIS INSANITY!!!
Uhhh what if I don't consent to the government watching me all the time…? 24/7? No privacy? Not how humans are supposed to live
In addition to the concept of IoT, there are also critical advancements occurring in artificial intelligence, machine learning and autonomous vehicles.
For instance, the emerging concept of ‘smart infrastructure’ – an extension to the IoT concept – is the result of combining physical infrastructure with digital infrastructure, providing improved information to enable better, faster and more cost-effective decision making (University of Cambridge, 2016).
As illustrated in Figure 2.2. Such smart infrastructure involves monitoring the condition and performance of infrastructure assets and systems such as bridges, pavements and tunnels using sensing systems such as distributed fibre optic sensors and wireless sensor networks (Soga et al., 2016).
In addition to robotic inspection and advanced analytics applied to satellite images.
The growth of smart infrastructure solutions is being further accelerated by the emergence of low power miniature sensors and energy harvesting sensors that address critical issues of size and power management, as well as increasing interoperability requirements driven by standards.
Or we could implementation of new data analytic tools will produce new insights and knowledge on how to optimise the use of existing infrastructure, rather than needing all of this scary and hideous spyware.
THIS IS WHAT WE NEED MORE OF! I am all for SUPPORTIVE smart buildings… BUT… We DO NOT NEED a massive big brother George Orwell dystopia… For example: Take a look at the EPIC stuff that Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is doing…
They are trying to create the greenest Campus in the World, and they are doing this by using smart building technology to simply see how the University can reduce energy, water, waste footprints, save money, and help the environment…
And it worked PERFECTLY their technology was able to almost INSTANTLY identify a number of issues with heating and ventilation systems, energy meters, and room management, they ALSO discoverd 5 new technologies that were simulated using the calibrated models to determine what the savings would be if they were installed in the building…
THESE WERE: High resistance envelope for walls and roofs,
high resistance envelope for windows,
lighting with occupancy sensors,
plug load management,
and high performance optimised chillers.
All these things were HUMONGOUS SUCCESS and did not require anyone to lose their FREEDOMS AND HUMAN RIGHTS! We DO NOT NEED every single city to be entirely smart but some buildings (Or perhaps all buildings,) can use this technology to save the planet, and there is NO NEED for the government to spy on our ENTIRE lives!
🙂
Problem solved.
They save 19 billion dollars, the only ones benefiting are the elites
You go outside for a smoke and your face is suddenly broadcast on giant monitors throughout the city, and then you get zapped by a laser.
Communisms dream come true
Indian planning of smart city is absolute scam and politicians are becoming richer
anmol
The cities that we live in now are nothing more than giant circuit boards. The vast majority of people bought into the concept of smart cities at the beginning of the 20th century
